Understanding Your PMP Results

Results appear immediately on your screen after submitting. Here's what everything means.

Immediate Score Screen

After submitting your last question, you'll see a brief survey, then your results screen.

PASS

Congratulations. Your credential is active immediately.

FAIL

You may reschedule. See domain performance for focus areas.

Important: PMI does NOT publish a numeric pass score. You will see Pass or Fail — not a percentage or points.

Your Performance Report

Both passing and failing candidates receive a detailed performance report by domain. Each domain shows one of three ratings:

Above Target

You performed well above what is needed in this domain. This is your strength.

Target

You performed at a passing level for this domain. Solid, not exceptional.

Below Target

This domain needs improvement. If you retake, prioritize this area.

2026 domains in your report:

  • Domain 1 — People (33% of exam)
  • Domain 2 — Process (41% of exam)
  • Domain 3 — Business Environment (26% of exam)

Your Certificate and Digital Badge

Digital badge (Credly)

Within 1-2 business days of passing, PMI issues your digital badge through Credly. You can share it on LinkedIn, email signatures, and job applications. The badge links to verified credential information.

Physical certificate

Available on request through your PMI account. Processing takes 2-4 weeks. Most employers accept the digital badge and PMI registry verification instead.

PMI Certification Registry

Your credential is publicly verifiable at certifications.pmi.org/registry. Employers can confirm your certification status, expiration date, and credential ID.

If You Don't Pass

Failing the PMP is not uncommon — the exam is designed to be challenging. You have 3 attempts within your 12-month eligibility window.

1.Review your domain performance report — identify your weakest domain
2.Wait at least 7 days before rescheduling (PMI requirement)
3.Focus study on below-target domains before retaking
4.Reschedule through the same PMI exam scheduling portal

After 3 failed attempts within your eligibility period, you must reapply (new application, new fee) to get 3 more attempts.
